Epidote Gemstone

Epidote A mineral not often used in jewellery today, but one which has been used sporadically for several  hundred years. Its colour is normally a yellowish green, however it can also be found grey, brown or nearly black.

The gem is formed in metamorphic rocks and has  high  iron  content.  Although  it  is  widely abundant, gem-quality Epidote is rarely found.  When it is discovered, it is similar to Tourmaline in appearance and displays beautiful pleochroism and good transparency.

The  gem  has  been  unearthed  in  New  York, Australia, France and Russia.
