World's largest Kenyan Amethyst

Back in August 2016, we unveiled the world’s largest faceted Kenyan Amethyst on our Gemporia YouTube channel.

This extraordinary 114.6 carat gem comes from a brand new source in Kenya and now forms part of our museum collection. Back in August 2016, we invited you all to suggest a name for this wonderful stone. I’m pleased to announce that we’re going to be calling the gem Purple Reign, both in honor of Prince, who sadly passed away in 2016, but also in reference to the gem’s long association with royalty.
