We are looking for an experienced Buyer to join our Buying team at Gemporia Craft.

A proven track record in a buying position is essential alongside strong supplier management and product development experience. A background within the jewellery industry would be a distinct advantage.

This is a very fast paced role in the world of television so being able to work at pace, accurately and productively is essential. In the world of entertainment “the show must go on” so the ability to think on your feet and problem solve is a must.

Role & Responsibilities:

As a Buyer you will be responsible for, but not limited to: • Managing the buying process for your categories, including product development and range selection, maintaining the critical path, monitoring and managing inventory and identifying new opportunities. • Reviewing sales performance to understand key sales, profit and margin drivers and align actions accordingly. • Developing industry-leading supplier relationships delivering products that meet customer demand within specified costs and timelines within agreed inventory parameters. • Working closely with the Merchandising team to ensure a strategically joined up approach on all buys. • Understanding and reviewing competitor propositions regularly to ensure that our products satisfy the changing demands of our customers. • Creating and implementing strategic category plans in conjunction with key stakeholders to maximise sales and ensure category growth for your product areas. • Driving strong relationships with internal teams to deliver category objectives. • Becoming a category expert, continually developing your knowledge of your product areas and the wider market. • Resolving internal and external issues relating to your product categories. • Developing a thorough working knowledge of the in-house system to ensure accurate and efficient reporting. • Provide general support to the Buying & Merchandising Team as required

Skills & Experience

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Junior Buyer / Buyer level candidate ready to take the next step in their career development in a fast-paced , exciting working environment. Good communication skills and relationship building is essential, as you will be the main point of contact for your suppliers, as well as liaising with other departments within the organisation. The successful candidate will be organised, driven and detail-focused. A commercial and creative mindset with a passion for product and an understanding of the retail buying function are key. Good PC skills are necessary for this role.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead the product development team creating demonstration lead tv shows with appropriate commercially viable kits.

The role reporting into the Group Head of Programming and Sales is a significant senior role within the business ensuring that our Jewellery Making customers are inspired, educated and entertained through the production of kit hours highlighting different genres supported by demonstrations.

The role would suit a keen crafter who has excellent relationship management skills and is highly organized. This is a very fast paced business and making fast sound commercial decisions is key.

We are looking for someone who can work well autonomously but also ensure that key stake holders are communicated to effectively and internal deadlines are delivered.

You will be responsible for all kits and demonstrations that are featured on air, ensuring they are inspiring and deliver against sales targets.

Key responsibilities:

• Create and manage a calendar of events that include new product launches and mediums that you will need to determine the frequency of, based on reaction to the performance of each show.

• Manage the guest designer activity including further developing their project ideas into commercially viable products, determining what they will demonstrate on their appearances, approving booklets to launch and pitching DVD content.

• Manage the portfolio of mediums from concept to launch and further development or exit of ranges. Product ranges of mediums need to be developed with multiple shows in mind that take the customer on a learning development journey where they will learn new techniques on each show and require a new range of products in order to make the projects from home. Where possible, the range of products need to be an exclusive concept to JewelleryMaker.

• Manage a team of two product developers, one scheduler and four full-time designers. Regularly delegate workload to the team and communicate any changes in direction from the senior leadership team.

• Research products to add to the portfolio with the intention of ‘being the expert’ to advise on product specification and pricing within the market.

• Work collaboratively with buying, merchandising, marketing, designers, producers and presenters to agree how products are launched, priced and marketed.

Team/Relationship Management

• Manage day to day running of kit team comprising of 6 internal team members and 30+ external guest designers.

• Hold effective 121’s monthly and manage team performance.

Processes

• Implement and run effective processes to ensure that show deadline is delivered.

• Ensure external guests get demo materials in sufficient time and return samples in time for marketing to photograph.

Sales

• Use data to make commercially sound kits and supporting inspiration lead TV shows. • Deliver show monetary targets. • Identify new products/genres to attract new customers and create new revenue streams. • Review sales and act on data.

Planning

• Manage 12 month plan ensuring correct genre mix is in place. • Work with Buying and Merchandising to ensure that all components arrive on time. • Work with external designers to create booklets in advance to support kit sales. • Plan in regular DVDs in line with kit schedule. • Own weekly forward planning meeting to forecast short term kit hours.
