Chakras

The word Chakra describes a ball of energy from within the body. Derived from the Sanskrit word for a wheel, it is visualised as a spinning energy that interacts with other Chakra to give us health, energy and wellbeing. There are many books written about the body’s Chakra system, all of which detail philosophical theories and models of wellbeing which were first described in ancient India.
The physical body and consciousness is said to consist of seven Chakras located at major points in our nervous system, starting at the base of the spinal column and moving upward along the backbone to the skull. When they are working in balance and interacting with each other, they evenly distribute energy throughout the body, thus aiding mental wellbeing, decision making and rejuvenation. They almost act as a door to allow life energy to flow from the body into your aura.

Different Chakra interact with different parts and aspects of our body. All senses, perceptions, experiences and conscience can be divided into seven categories: the Crown, Brow, Throat, Heart, Solar Plexus, Sacral and Root.
It is maintained that stress can manifest itself as illness in the human body and is believed to happen when the body holds onto negative energy (through problems with rotation in certain Chakra). Having a finely tuned Chakra system means that negative energy is not trapped, thus allowing it to escape from the body easily.

Chakra can be healed and cleansed by gemstones, colour and sound. Concentrating on certain colours or sounds is believed to aid the overall balance of the Chakras. For example, the Throat Chakra is cleansed by the colour blue and the noise created from the word “eye”. Try it yourself – imagine your throat, the colour blue and make the sound of the word “eye”. Keep doing this for as long as you can.
