Treasure Hunters Find 'Oldest' Iron Age Gold

Two friends, Mark Hambleton and Joe Kania, have discovered three twisted gold necklaces (called torcs) and a bracelet using a metal detector on farmland in Staffordshire, where the legendary Stafforshire Hoard was previously found. The torcs were buried about a metre apart, and are thought to have been buried to keep them safe, possibly as an offering to God, or in remembrance of someone who had died. The torcs are believed to date back to 400-250 BC, making them the earliest Iron Age goldwork ever discovered in Britain.
