With the 19th-century jewellery revival being such a hot trend at the moment, we thought we’d have a quick chat with Rebecca Jarrett, creator of the Regency Collection prior to the big launch.
Hi Becky, can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your new Regency collection?
Hey! I’m Head of Merchandising at Gemporia, and also a jewellery buyer. I love it because I get to be creative and come up with new and exciting collection ideas like this one!
When did you first think about a unique collection like this?
I have always loved the big look cocktail rings and bigger pieces of jewellery that have that 'wow' factor. I've seen a lot of these pieces gracing the red carpet at award shows and popping up in period dramas over the past couple of years.
This collection is very different from anything Gemporia has released before, so what do you think makes it so special?
I think it’s the 1800s inspiration - it’s something I haven’t seen since I've worked here, but it's growing in popularity.
Regency is very Bridgerton-inspired. Tell us, what do you love the most about the show?
The costumes and the jewellery are incredible! I love how the show is anchored in the past, so it has that period drama feel, but then there’s the modern-day twist through things like the music that's played.
For anyone who is yet to watch the show, can you give us a little bit of insight into Bridgerton and its influence on the Regency Collection?
The series is based on Julia Quinn's best-selling novels that are set in Regency London, very high society, and follow the stories of the Bridgerton family. The Regency Collection pays homage to the period in which the drama is set.

What are your favourite items from the collection?
There is a Pearl and Ruby ring that I just absolutely love and a couple of crown rings that are like nothing I’ve seen before.
Do you have any plans in place to expand the collection? After all, Season 2 of Bridgerton is just around the corner!
I can exclusively reveal that a second collection is in the works - but that’s all I can say for now!
